Cognitive decline is common
Who's a senior? That roughly depends on their size:

• Small breeds:  10-12 years
• Medium breeds: 8-9 years
• Large or giant breeds: 6-7 years

As dogs gets older, their brain is building up oxidative damage which may lead to cognitive dysfunction. This affects 1 in 3 dogs over 11, and 2 in 3 over 15 years of age.

Mimics human mental decline

As we age, the brain builds up oxidative stress. When dogs are younger, they can counteract oxidation but as they age, they’re not as capable of protecting themselves.

This often leads to many of the
same declines in cognitive ability as elderly people: impaired learning and memory, disorientation, a reduced ability to interact socially, house soiling, and disturbed sleep.

Not inevitable & can be delayed

Just like in humans, senior dogs can be classified into successful agers, mild cognitive impairment, and severe cognitive impairment called cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS). Research shows that some nutraceutical supplements (like ours) can protect against—and even reverse—declines in cognitive function due to age-related oxidative stress.Active enrichment and staying lean are also helpful.
