Homemade Clinical Diets for Dogs

The Bestie method of making raw and fresh food at home is super simple and we designed it that way for a reason. You just use muscle meat of a variety of types and add the Bestie Allrounder to it. In combination, that makes a complete and balanced meal. But sometimes, some dogs may need a diet which is a little bit different.

Small animal nutritionist, Dr Anna Sutton, has created a range of diets that are pretty easy for you to implement at home and still use Bestie, but are designed for particular health conditions.

FAQ

The Clinical Diet Series was developed by Dr Anna Sutton, a physiologist and registered animal nutritionist with clinical nutrition training from the European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies (ESAVS). With over 20 years of experience in the pet food industry, Anna specialises in novel sustainable raw materials, oxidation management, food safety, and nutrition.

Always consult with your veterinarian before starting any new diet, especially for dogs with liver and kidney diseases. Transition gradually over a week when introducing a new diet to avoid digestive upset.

No. When dogs are healthy, they've got lots of natural digestive enzymes and so forth. But when they're not healthy, we need to help them out a bit. Cooking helps digestibility.  So this is a one pot method and you're basically cooking until the meat, the vegetables, and the rice or other starches, like oats, are properly cooked. This is super important.

Once it's cooked, and it's cooling down or cooled down, that's when you add your heat sensitive oils in and your Bestie Allrounder, to preserve all the nutrients. You can then put it in the fridge or the freezer, whichever you wish.
